Northeastern Oklahoma A&M’s Homa Thomas Field has received new fencing as part of a project spearheaded by a former player.

Jamie Williams — who played for the Norsemen from 1987-89 — raised $9,600 and NEO matched that total to help fund the project, which saw new fencing erected from dugout to dugout.

“That fence has been through two major floods … some of the poles were leaning and some were hanging,” Williams said. “We did all the labor ourselves.

Donors included Neece Concrete and Construction, Chapters, Sonic, Bordertown Casino, Integris Baptist Regional Health Center, Blitz USA, Quapaw Casino, Wyandotte Casino, Miami Tribe, First National Bank, Quad States Financial, Osborn Drugs and Miami Home Plate, Inc.

Williams was especially grateful to Zeb Neece and Tyson Lawson of Neece Concrete.

“Those two put in a lot of hours out there,” Williams said.

“Some gave $250 and some gave more,” Williams said. “We also got some in-kind donations.”

There will be some signage on the outfield fence and eventually a “batter’s eye” will go up in dead-center field, Williams said.

Buffalo Run Casino, one of the biggest and fanciest Indian casinos in Northeast Oklahoma, is a fantastic place to treat yourself and your family for a day out for slots, music, food, and a great time! Buffalo Run has a huge front section filled with slot machines of all kinds. A new addition has been added with 4 poker tables, and an open bar. Of course, the Coleman House Restaurante is available for formal dinners and meals, along with Joe’s Outback Grill where you can but almost any fast food available at great prices, and fantastic, delicious foods. The back section is filled with half as many machines as the front section, however there is a main attraction- a vegas style Wheel of Fortune circular slot machine where up to 10 people can sit and play Wheel of Fortune, with each player’s seat able to accomodate two individuals for multiple players on each machine (family). There also is a cage in both ends of the casion, making money and ticket access easier.

ATM machines are also present. The latest addition to Buffalo Run revealed a new assortment of slot machines, along with some favorites updated. Another new and exciting favorite of mine is the weekly slot tournament held in the OLD POKER ROOM. (The poker room has since been dismantled; it now is a vegas style slot tournament room, which is indeed much fun!) Weekly, and everyday, might I add, there is a slot tournament, buy in $10 per round, 2 rounds max.

Never before had I participated in the slot tournament, however when I did, I had SO MUCH rooting for the people playing with me, as well as myself. To play the slot tournament, you have to CONTINUOUSLY keep hitting the “play” button on your machine that is pre-set with 2,500 credit with a 10 minute play time, where you accumulate as much points (credits) as possible, and who ever has the most after the round is the winner of marvelous prizes, all of which are EASY to win! Last time we were there, me and my grandpa played the tournament, and my grandpa took 2nd place with 9,000 credits. Winning at Buffalo Run is amazing! I have never left Buffalo Run with empty pockets. I have always walked away with a good time in hand and most of all - money.

It’s true- their slogan “Loosest Slots in Oklahoma” does live up to its name! Winning is so much fun, and is easy. The machines are user friendly, and are FUN to play! The machine music is fantastic. It’s what makes my time there enjoyable, along with all the country favorites playing overhead. Concerts are also held at Buffalo Run.

Some band headlining in the near future are Rascal Flats, Heidi Newfield, Bucky Covington, Shooter Jennings, George Jones, and Darryl Worley. Some headliners in the past have been people such as Brett Michales and many others. Don’t forget about comedy night at Buffalo Run either! I totally and completely LOVE Buffalo Run!!! It’s my FAVORITE Casino EVER!!!! And I have been to MANY, believe me!!!! =) If you want to feel like royalty, have a great time, enjoy life, and feel like you own it all, I encourage you to go to Buffalo Run! =) The atmosphere is GREAT!!!!! =)
