It is quite a shock when driving along Highway 246 East towards Solvang to suddenly see a flock of ostriches dashing about on a plain. This is the road one commonly takes when traveling from the wineries in Buellton to those in Solvang, a Danish themed city renowned for its restaurants and European charm. Also, it is the route one takes to travel to Santa Ynez wineries and the Chumash Casino if one has come from Highway 101. The route is an alterantive way to travel to the wineries of Los Olivos.
A trip to Ostrichland is very easy to work in amongst a busy day of wine tasting and sight seeing in the Santa Ynez Valley. For people who enjoy animals, it can be delightful to see ostriches and emus up close. Since it is just a few minutes off Highway 101, Ostrichland might merit a special visit for travelers who are passing through the Central Coast.
